Hello: Great forum! I have been looking for two pictures and hope you guys have a copy or can get one! These pertain to my questions!!! 1 - a picture of the bottom of a true lion vase lamp base - with the inner ring visible? 2 - a picture of the base of a 164L-10" lion vase? I've searched all the books I know. My question is if Red Wing used the actual lion vases when the lion lamp bases ran out? The lamp bases had the true ceramic, connected mouthpiece, a true glazed electrical plughole and the dry rim on the bottom to connect the whole electrical assembly. I have a 164L vase (not lamp base) with a factory glazed electrical plughole on the side, near the bottom - it's original. This had no ceramic mouthpiece attached. Then the bottom was cut to accept a plate to hold the whole electrical assembly in place (has a bit of the markings, raised mark, but the rest was cut for the hole and is not known). My assertion is that Red Wing, near the end of the lamp business, used vases as well as lamp bases - and sold both as original from-the-factory lamp bases. Is this true or could it be true??? I have this vase with the glazed side hole, however the bottom is not glazed and is hand cut, so I'm hearing that this was after-market. I think it was done in factory. They did the glazed side holes and not in-form bottom holes so they didn’t get stuck with 164L vases with big holes in the bottoms! Can you help??? I’ve seen cut-in bottom holes in other pottery factory books. Some are rough looking, however it was sold as a lamp with felt on the bottom – perfection for a hidden hole would not be top priority when deadlines were tight! Thank you so much! Happy Holidays!!! wdywdpkr
