pprissel You have what Redwing would call a Koverweight. Yours sounds like it wasn't made by Red Wing though. It migh have been made by another pottery. Red Wing Koverweights are usually clearly marked as such and easy to identify. They were used to keep the food under the brine solution so that it didn't dry out. Steve L.
