lynette Since Paul is busy with a move I will take a crack at your question. Yes you can use something like that to help stabilize the crock. It will not look exactly the same as the salt glaze finish but will help to stabilize it. I wouldn't use a spray finish. Use a finish in a can ad apply it with a Q tip working it into the stoneware to help it adhere. If you use the crock and expose it to water or changes in temperature the finish may not hold and may start flaking off so keep it warm and dry so to speak. Steve L.
