Bart -- Pepe was introduced in 1962 so I doubt there is any lead in the glaze but some of the clay still gets hot in the microwave. I suggest you put a saucer or a chipped piece in the micro wave and run it for 1 minute and see if it gets hot. Some of the Bob White gets hot but some doesn't. It will probably be true of all the later dinnerware depending on where the clay came from.
