Thanks, Paul. I paid less than the $250 you mentioned.....in Gurnee IL. The grooves look to me like those in the old glass lids that were held on to mason jars with a wire "clamp". But there is no groove in the button of the stoneware lid as there is on the glass lids. I guess that is something we will have to learn sometime down the road.
