Hi Paul, Ever since Kosmatka "the elder" bought my Hazel butter jar several years ago, I've been looking for another one......and found it, unsigned, but complete with cover.......an unsigned "extra creamery butter" version with the person's signature. The only defect is a 3 legged "spider" crack in the cover that does not extend to the edges. Question # 1...what would you consider a fair price for this jar? We don't see too much RW here in mid-Michigan, so I don't have much to judge by except that anything with a red wing is obscenely expensive. Question # 2 The cover on this jar is like one pictured on page 146 of "Red Wing Stoneware". It is the lid in the upper right of the "small RW 'button' lids" picture. Notice the two grooves in the outer ridge. They are glazed over.....not chips. What do you think the purpose of these grooves might have been? Thanks a million for your help.
