Sounds like it's real. A bottom mark or side stamp are the surest ways to guarantee authenticity to stoneware. Without a mark, there can always be some debate as to authenticity. As for value, a 1 gallon crock without any additional decorations or advertising is worth about $40 in perfect condition.
