At an auction here in North Carolina recently, over 100 Rookwood tiles were up for grabs. Each of them was a bit different, but most, I believe, had the Rookwood impressed mark on the back. These were utilitarian tiles, used for backsplashes, fireplaces, etc., and were not highly decorated or hand-painted.
The method of the auction was "bid on one, high bidder get his/her choice." The first, high bid for one tile was about $20.00, and the average sale price was about $8.00 each.
