I replied to "Jonas" post way down on this board, but since it may be confusing, I have to say it again. Every true collector DOES NOT BELIEVE EVERYTHING THEY READ IN THE BOOKS! Those books are written by: A. someone that does it for a living or B. someone that is a collector and sees a need. The latter is obviously better, but again, they don't know everything there is to know and if they are any type of collector will be the first to admit it. I know for a fact Rusty has given pictures, time, money, pottery, stoneware, written proof and everything else he could give to what he calls the "higher ups and smell me's" of the society. Its a shame that Lyndon Viel, author of Clay Giants, is in a better place, or he would set the record straight. Sigh. I believe its true, nothing has changed and nothing will change as long as there are so called collectors out there that treat these books as bibles. No one wants to listen to someone that has been there or had the proof as long as it isn't it their 'bible'. Its a shame that when someone is trying to tell you something about what your show an interest in and you (most of you) call him a liar and say it can't be because you haven't "read it anywhere". I guess thats whats wrong with the World now days-people even need a book to raise their own children-I suppose they also need to watch the news so they know what kind of opinion they are suppose to have. This all boils down to: get a grip people. If you haven't dug in the dump, did any research (besides your precious 'bibles') then how DARE you say it isn't true. I have no reason nor should anyone else to not belive a true collector that has been in this business for over 36 years. I guess since he hasn't written a book-then all his knowledge doesn't count huh? I give up-you can go on with your opinions, I'll stick to knowledge from people that have it and form my own opinions. BTW, thank you David and Paul for being open minded enough to want to learn more-I suggest you get a hold of the societies "higherups and smell me's" since all the 'proof' (pictures, samples etc) were dontated back to them.
