Wally, Perhaps, like I do, this person keeps change a crock. In this case, perhaps only pennies. If one knows the empty weight of the crock, and the weight of the crock full of pennies, and the weight of an individual penny, then one can weigh the crock full of pennies and then calculate the value of the pennies in the crock.
Let W=weight, f=full, e=empty, p=penny. (Wf - We) / Wp = number of pennies. Multiply by 100 to get dollars. In most cases the crock is worth more than the pennies inside:)
On the serious side, I have no idea how much a penny weighs, though 10 to a pound seems pretty heavy.
