rtkunstal- Years ago I was on my way to convention at Red Wing when I stopped in Rogers, MN and purchaced a flat footed bowl and on the bottom it had the numbers 644 and nothing else. I was sure it was Red Wing but no one had ever seen it before so I couldn't prove it. It also had a strange finish on it that I had never seen. The years went by and year be for last at the MidWinter show and sale I ran across a set of candle holders that sayed Red Wing 646 and the same finish as the bowl so when you came up with this number I went out in the front room to check if it was the same number, and it was. There are 3 pieces to the set and they are 644 the low bowl, 645 a deeper bowl and 646 the candle holders. This set was introduced by Red Wing in 1959 and I would guess that it was designed by Charles Murphy. They are valued at: 644 $30 to $50, 645 $45 to $60 and 646 at from $30 to $45.
