In the early days almost everyone in the rural areas needed a water cooler. As time went by the rural areas were 'electrified', mainly during the WPA years, the later years of the great depression.
The early coolers had the bigger wings. The later coolers, with the RW Potteries mark, were made in the late 1930's when the demand was lower. I would assume that there were fewer made.
