If you have a crock that has the union missing in the oval you would likely have a crock that was made by the red wing potteries. The oval would read Red wing/ potteries inc/ Red Wing Minn. This was a name switch made in 1936 used to reflect the companys growing change away from stoneware products to artware and dinnerware. As for a repro, the new red wing stoneware does make some larger ware crocks, up to around 8 gallons. I am not really shure how their ovals look, if it is not the potteries one please respond to this post and someone may be able to tell you what they look like. I do know that it is almost cheaper to get an original than buy a repro from red wing S.W.
