Carol -- Red Wing had two sets of dishes made with brown and green. "Provincial OOmph" was introduced in 1943. It was a solid color of brown with green on the edges and the lids of the pieces were brown. This was very heavy dinnerware with the plates were green on top and brown on the bottom.

In 1953 they introduced Village Green which was brown but it looked like there were lighter colored ridges under the glaze. These pieces were glazed green on the inside and the plates were green both on bottom and top. The lids were all green and came out just to the edge of the piece. Village Green was by far the biggest set of dinnerware Red Wing made with about 50 some pieces(including lids).

The best current price guide is "Red Wing Dinnerware price and identification guide by Ray Reiss. It can be ordered by calling 1-800-355-2324. It is priced at $12.95 pluss shipping.
