Howloy - The pattern on your egg plate is "Lanterns". If you get a book on flowers you will find that it is just like a "Japanese Lantern" flower. My wife is a collector of egg plates and when she goes to Red Wing for convention she hounds everyone for one she doesn't have. She is just 11 short of having them all. You are right in that they are hard to find. There are, I think, just 3 shapes in the egg plates. Round, S shaped and the one like you have with the egg cradles along the edge. The one like you have is the only one that has a lid. I think the S shaped ones are for the "Anniversary" pattern that was introduced by Red Wing in 1953, the 75th anniversary of the potteries. The round egg plates don't go with any pattern and are thought to be sort of generic.
