Pat, your gonna have to give me a better description than, "The one in Quick Viewer". Byron recently thinned-out the files, but there are still thousands of images stored on this site.

Here are some features that will help me recognize the piece you are describing:

1) "Spongeware" is a term describing a method of decoration achieved by daubing colored glaze materials onto the surface of a piece using a natural, sea sponge. The body of the piece is usually covered with a "base color" over which the sponging is applied. Red Wing made the most well known of spongeware pieces. These were bowls in "nesting" sizes from 5 thru 11 inch diameter and a distinct indented-panel style to the bowl itself. They were covered with a tan-gray body glaze with random mottling of reddish-brown and blue over the outside of the bowl. This same style of two-color sponging was used on a variety of other kitchenware items by Red Wing. Earlier Red Wing sponge-decorated pieces tended to be single color-mottled. What is your bowl like?

2) "Gray Line" Red Wing made a particular style of kitchenware items which had a grayish-white body glaze and two thin blue bands about 5/8ths to 3/4ths of an incs apart, separated by reddish-brown mottling. This brand of ware is often described as "sponge band" (a term I dislike). Most of the pieces have a "daisy petal" ribbing on their sides and lids, where applicable. (I'm beginning to believe that Gray Line is what you are describing.) (It is VERY collectible and highly valued.

3) I think you get the idea.

PS: Sorry about my sensitivity about the ballpark. The Milwaukee Brewers organization screwed the citizens of Southeastern Wisconsin. Last week the Green Bay Packers started their sob song for a new stadium for themselves. It looks like it was a bad time for me to stop taking my medications.
