Red Wing Stoneware Company introduced the "daisy petal" pattern on their lids in the salt-glaze era. Minnesota Stoneware Company had a couple of modified petal designs, one of which resembled the "tipped petal" style used on MSCo flowerpots. North Star Stoneware Company's lids had a smooth dome, with a star on top of the handle knob. The daisy petal design seems to have become "standard" even before RWSCo & MSCo formally merged in 1906. There is no evidence of there ever being an "inter-connecting leaf pattern" design lid for large jars made in Red Wing. I'd like to see a photo, but I think that you are correct in assuming that you have a mismatch.

Oval-less leaf-decorated pieces are not rare at all, but wing jars without ovals are probably uncommon enough to qualify as rare. There presently are a fair number of collectors interested in putting togeather as great of a series of sizes of these pieces as possible, so the value has increased markedly over the past few years.
