There are known Red Wing lids with the same 3 & 4 gallon marking, so I believe that your lid is an original Red Wing lid. All of the price guides and books giving prices are re-edited periodically with updated values (those still in print, that is). Red Wing Collectibles and Red Wing Stoneware by Depasqualle & Peterson has the prices printed right in the book, so you need the latest pritings. Red Wing Potters & Their Wares has a separate Price Guide, re-issued every other year, so you only have to buy the $2.00 guide.
