Dino's picture is exactly why I posted my query. The beverage server is undeniably Village. The lid, however, is not the same as the lids found on Green, Delta Blue or Picardy pieces. It does not have the characteristic swirl. Although, as Wally noted, Red Wing dinnerware lines generally had the same shape just with different decoration, Village is an exception. The serving pieces in the Provicinal line (ie. bean pots and cassaroles) are an entirely different shape. Of interest however, the handles on the lids are very similar to the one Dino has pictured.

In fact, I have a covered beverage pitcher with a lid exactly like the one Dino posted. I also have two covered sugars with similar lids. I know the lids are not from earlier Bakeware pieces (I collect that too) because the glaze is the wrong color. Although I too have never seen a brown lid with the swirl to the knob handle, I wonder if Village Brown has different handles from the rest of Village.

Thanks to everyone who has responded thus far and hopefully someone will come up with answer.

Ben
