Ben -- The reason it is called Village Brown and Village Green is that it is Brown and Green. As far as I know the Village Brown is just the same as Village Green, Picardy, Delta Blue, Two Step, and Provincial. The pieces all came out of the mold the same color (white or Grey) and then the slip and decoration was applied to make the different patterns. Some of the same shape as Village Green was finnished in a light tan collor that was called Wheat or Sand. Some was even painted in the Tampico pattern.

Value changes in different areas of the country and with the eagerness of collectors(Byrons $85 plate). Most beginning collectors get stuck for the high prices untill they learn to negotiate. It has happened to all of us.

The price of Village Brown, like you said, should be higher than Village Green because they probably made 20 times more Village Green than Brown because they couldn't sell the Brown. I have never been approached by anyone looking for Village Brown so maybe the same idea continues on.
