Sharon, I have seen a logo with an Indian chief and I immediately started to reply: "I think it came from Louisville, Kentucky or somewhere in that direction". But, then it occurred to me that the reason that I had associated that location with the Indian Chief logo was that the piece that I had seen had a company name and location in the logo. It could be that yours is an older, or newer example from that same place, but there is really no way of telling, except to find someone with in-depth knowledge of that particular company.
Indianapolis wouldn't be too wild of a speculation as to the location of a stoneware pottery that used an Indian in its logo, would it? (It's SORT OF in the vicinity of Louisville. Relative to Milwaukee, anyway?) Try checking at the local Historical Society or library to see what existed after the turn of the century. If it is local, antique dealers in your area will probably be aware of it, if not knowledgable.
