Hi Gary, While purchasing a 30 Gal. birch leave crock with ski oval from an older gentleman, I also noticed in his storage shed a 5 gal. crock with the "SA" marking. I own a 4 gal. SA crock, but mine has the color of salt glazing that is more reflective of a Red Wing product. This 5 gal., while a much different color than Red Wing salt glaze, has typical red wing molded handles. I checked in Newkirk's identification guide (book 2), where he indicates the SA crocks have been reported in 3,4 and 6 gal. sizes. Could this 5 gal. I found possibly be Red Wing, or is it more likely the decorator worked for another pottery, perhaps here in Illinois? Thanks, Ervin Cox
