Being an avid ashtray collector I beg to differ as to whether glaze affects price-a plain glaze is less desirable than an overlay or rare glaze (i.e. sagrafitto) and I have seen price differences that reflect this. Not sure what you mean by "new red wing" but if you are looking for price guides on redwing soneware bowls etc I would suggest "Red Wing Potters and their Wares" by Gary and Bonnie Tefft or "Red Wing Stoneware" by Dan & Gail Depasquale, Larry Peterson.
