Yes, the oval is UNDER the wing on such a large proportion of pieces that you would have to call the "oval-over" variety "Rare". When in perfect condition they usually bring twice to three times what those with the standard placement bring.
I don't know of anybody who has reproduced the Ko-Rec Feeder, though the bell-topped feeder was the subject of the Red Wing Collectors Society convention commemorative a while back and, I believe, the new Red Wing Stoneware Company (not related to the original company) had them in their line, as well a few years ago. If your feeder is full-sized, rather than a miniature, there is not much likelihood that anyone would ever reproduce it with fraudulent intentions. There are enough of the originals around that the price is not worth the effort. One thing to remember about stoneware is that it doesn't decompose or show "age" the way wood or metal does. If it doesn't get banged inyto something and end up chipped or cracked, it will look as shiny and good as new for centuries.
