Thanks to Sue H.
for sending these images of her Red Wing plate and Sewer Pipe cup.  Here's a note from Sue about the items and her memories of Red Wing....

Thank you for your interest in these pieces.

As you requested, here are some better photo's. My father, Rollie Seager worked at the Pottery in the late 50's early 60's somewhere in the offices, quality or inventory I believe. I remember as a girl of 6 going down early Saturday mornings to walk through the plant. It had a dusty, clay smell with wonderful beams of light passing through the dust (in my young mind). It was also fun to go to the dump behind the building and toss the plates further into the weeds. ( the $ I must have tossed!) Anyway, my father received the Hippie piece and I noted some other similar drawings on plates on your web site. Can you tell me the value of the Hippie piece. The sewer pipe cup I believe was a promotion piece, but the mold seems similar to a RW cup, but sewer pipe clay. My father worked there after the Pottery closed. Any information would be welcome.

Thank you for your interest. Sue H

Thanks to Judith Hansen of Dearborn Heights, MI
for sending these images of Red Wing plates.  Here's a note from Judith about the plates....

Byron,
The plates were made in honor of my mother (my dad asked the painters at the pottery to paint the specific pictures, shortly after my parents were married in 1946).  My dad's parents (my grandparents) worked at the pottery.  My grandparents married in 1909!!!!
Thanks!
Judy

Steve just sent me an update regarding the history of this jug...

...It sat in a Cigar & Candy Store on the Corners of Bush St and Main St in Red Wing untill the early 1960's. It left Red Wing sometime after the pottery closed in 1967 and made its way to a Western Wisconsin City. It has remained in one family since the 1960's.

Thats about all I have on it to this point. Please if anyone has any information about the jug or the Morley Store in Red Wing let me know by email or posts on the Ask Wally Paul and Steve discussion group. It would be great to be able to put some history behind this piece.

 Steve L.

Leave Steve a note in the Q/A page if you have feedback for him.
