Can't say I'm surprised that sellers would try to link their unmarked mystery items to Red Wing. Claims of "Could be Red Wing", "Unmarked Red Wing", or "a friend told me it's Red Wing" were made long before eBay existed. Red Wing is known to be valued by collectors and it's rather natural for sellers to try to make a connection, even without any proof of maker. Sellers also include Red Wing in their listings in order to attract potential bidders using "Red Wing" as a search term. I don't mind sellers of vintage items who stretch for a connection to Red Wing and include terms that show uncertainty. I have a big problem with sellers items who make Red Wing claims with no documentation and leave potential buyers with the impression there is no doubt about the maker.
