Bonnie, Cindy is correct, what you did is considered auction interference. eBay and other users frown very highly on that. No matter what your intentions, you can NEVER contact bidders on a current OR past auction to warn them away from an item nor a seller. How are they to know you aren't a wanna be underbidder who will get the item a lot cheaper if you can "scare" everybody away. ALSO, It is most certainly considered Postal fraud to claim insurance value of the item you won at more than what you paid for it. The seller is required to prove proof of payment via a receipt. You can not go to the postmaster of your local post office with Rays book under your arm and say "See here is what is worth". First of all, Rays book is NOT replacement cost-its not even close. Ray is NOT an expert on value (obviously) nor is he considered an appraiser which is what the Postal Service requires-a written appraisal of value. You've been lucky so far that nobody has turned you in-I wouldn't push my luck anymore if I were you.
