I have just have the pleasure of receiving a "spoof" email warning of a security problem with my account and being directed to an authentic looking series of Ebay pages to re-enter personal info, passwords, charge card numbers, and checking account numbers. The latter was the tip-off and contacted Ebay to learn that they knew of this scam all along..... I talked to several friends and discovered one had been seriously ripped off because they fell for the apparent genuiness of the email and links. It would seem to me that this is serious business and Ebay should've been up front and warned all registered users, but apparently left if to their chat rooms. DOn't know if anyone else got scammed because of this but it seems that a campaign to let Ebay know that they actually do have some responsibility to warn its customers of potentially damaging situations.
