I hate to see anyone disappointed on Wing Tips, so I did some checking....
I have absolutely no knowledge of dinnerware, can someone else help with value??
I did look into whether there were any unusual bidding practices on this particular item. We've seen "shill bids" before to drive up the sale price of the item. In this case, I don't think that happened for several reasons. First of all, there was no reserve on the item.. Secondly, the 3 highest bidders have all bid on Red Wing dinnerware before. Thirdly, the three highest bidders have been registered for quite some time, and have positive feedback ratings.
Sometimes things don't seem too unique, but if you have more than one person in an auction situation who absolutely has to have something, prices can go sky high. Maybe that's what happened here.
