Marie Houston Pink Hill, NC 28572 tmhouston@duplinnet.com just browsing around
Looking for the value of two Redwing jar-type bowls that are a set and fit into a wooden holder or server. They both have wooden lids. One has a chip on the mouth of the jar. They are white in color and in very good condition except for the chip. I recently purchased these and wonder what they are worth.

I saw a Red Wing # 6 crock with handles advertised for sale in the paper, so I did a search on the internet for Red Wing Stoneware and found your web site in the results. very interesting site with lots of information. I purchased the crock for $40, has three small chips in the lip and the wood on one handle missing. otherwise, very good condition, no cracks or hairlines, and from the identification hints on your website, it was made 1915-1930 era. by the way, my wife and I were in Red Wing last year when you held your convention, but did not attend. we were the to see Merle Haggard at Treasure Island.

Wonderful site. Enjoyed and learned much. I'm Jann from Fargo, ND, BettyCrock@aol.com. I own a few pieces of Red Wing, grew up in SE MN, so always familar with the city and pottery. My crocks are all Red Wing, owned by my great-grandmother. I still use them for making pickles as she did. I also have a one gallon crock I have a question about. In 1980, an auctioneer friend whose son collects Red Wing told me my crock was pre-Red Wing, made at the pottery before it was named Red Wing. It's a dark beige exterior, brown inside, on the bottom outisde, circular embossed, Minnesota something, have it in storage so unable to say for sure what is says. I also have an advertising article made by Red Wing. It's a rolling pin with wood handles, marked Red Red, from has my great-great uncles dry good store advertized, Peterson's in Decorah, Iowa. Love your site. Thanks!!!

Leonard D. Neunaber, Bethalto, Il. email ldneunaber@home.com. - I used google.com search engine - not a plug but this site can find anything fast! My mother had a Redwing magnolia vase from 1940 that my wife enjoyed so much she started picking up this pattern on her flea market and antique store outings. I've unwittingly become attached to this pattern myself. You have a great website; just what I've been looking for.

Vicky Ferro, Spokane, WA. KCFerro@aol.com - I found this site via a search. I purchased a Red Wing #10 container ,which was part of a 'lot' ,at an estate auction about 4 yrs, ago, for $30. Was watching a collectibles show on HGTV, which featured a Red Wing butter churn val'd.@ $3,000, and became curious about mine. I guess I'd better take all the dirt & flowers out of it & get it off my front porch! Since I got 5 different pots, in the lot inwhich this was purchased, I've discovered it's worth more than $6.

You are probably going to say that I might be related to Ray Reiss, maybe some distant relation, but here goes: Dale A. Reiss Mansfield, Ohio (Mustangdtlr@aol.com)
I found WingTips by going to the reference section and looked under Red Wing Pottery and found a book on Ray Reiss Pottery book that I found to quite amazed with the contents of the book and where to find other web sites directing me towards this page...
I do have a question pertaining to the Capistrano section, my mother has a set of Capistano dishes that she is interested in selling to a collector if he/she wishes to add to their collection. My mother recieved the dishes as a wedding annvesary gift from friends of hers from California back in the 50's and she has used them over the years and now she had asked me if I wanted them, I declined, so now she is wanting some prices on the pieces to sell. I told her that I would do some research on the Red wings plates, so my question so you is, should we sell them now or wait for a collector that may enjoy them. I really don't know much about the pottery world, but I am intrigued by it, especially after all the research I have done, now I am looking for who made the Red Rooster collection and insure it. Thanks for your time....Dale Reiss

Hello,I found you through a Google search for Redwing Pottery. My name is A. J. Lorimer and A.K.A. andyjoriginal@netscape.net, I am from Rush City, Minnesota, I am an A.C.E. (Antiue Collector Extra)and alsa a P.A.S.S. (Personal Antique Search Service) I have been collecting for over 20 years and I still can not resist stopping for a yard sale. I bought a beautiful pitcher with a stopper hand painted with tulips (sideways on pitcher when in normal standing position)The tulips are yellow and the leaves are olive green. there are three bands of green around the vase also. The stopper has cork layer around outside at bottom and a small pinhole in top and one tulip on top and a thin line of green at rim around top outside. marked with "REDWING USA" on bottom of pitcher. it is in near mint condition wih a hairline crack at top about two inches long and barely noticeable.handle is a strange angular shape and is applied to pitcher. Is it real or is it a repro? and a guess as to its value if real? I need to pay my rent and it is allready after the 15th. Please help, I haven't been able to even find this pattern listed on line or seen any other covered pitcher like this before. Thanks, A. J. Lorimer, proprietor A. David Hakensen Minnetonka, MN dhakensen@psbpr.com Saw reference to the site in Minn. Historical Society archives; it was mentioned in description in their dinnerware collection.
What a wonderful and thorough site! I've been collecting fleck Red Wing for about 10 years as a hobby, but when Ray Reiss' books came out and the prices went through the roof, I decided to get serious before it became unaffordable! Have a new passion for collecting dinnerware, but haven't decided on a pattern to collect. It's fascinating.

Thank you. It's fun seeing my dinnerware on the web. I am a very casual collector- actually bought some at a flea market in Northern Michigan when I got my first apartment after college. I found the website by typing in "Red Wing Art Pottery" in Altavista. I have an egg tray I have some questions about. It is light purple with black outlined flowers over pink and purple. Any idea what it is? Thank you. This is so fun.

Although I grew up in the Twin Cities and we had odds and ends of Red Wing pieces in our home, I never knew much about the production and the scope of the output of these wonderful items. Before my husband and I left Minnesota (never to return) we visited the outlet store and picked up several casserole dishes, mugs, etc., which we've used over the years. I encountered Red Wing on E-Bay and have been buying things right and left. It's a real nostalgia trip for me, plus I have discovered the intrinsic beauty of these pieces which I formerly considered very mundane and utilitarian!

Alice Ohme, Bradenton, Florida ohalice@aol.com found you via search engine I'd like information on joining the Red Wing Collector's Society if you know anything about that. I'm originally from Red Wing, born and grew up there. My mother and 3 brothers still live there (name is Dosdall, pretty well known around town). I've recently started collecting Red Wing art pottery, mainly vases, pitcher, planters. (I really like the old pieces, English Garden especially and any of the ones with the wiped off stain as well as real colorful items.) I've got about 20 pieces now. I want to get knowledgeable enough about Red Wing pottery so I can recognize it when I go into a store or to a sale and have some idea of value. Is there any reference material available that lists Red Wing pottery by the number found on the bottom? I've been trying to track down a book by Reiss that I've heard about, but even Amazon.com doesn't have it in stock. I look forward to hearing from you. Alice
