This is a terrific site - I've spent so much time browsing it, I can't believe it. And had such great answers to my questions. My name is Pat Schultz and I'm in northern Iowa - maybe a 3-4 hour drive from Red Wing, actually. E-mail: trish@willowtree.com. My interest in Red Wing has developed as we've been cleaning out my mother-in-law's house and finding a variety of pieces. After looking at the brochure, I have to run back across the road for the dachsund planter! Found the site through the Hotbot search engine, where it comes up as the 3rd choice or so with a "Red Wing pottery" search. Thanks for the super work that helps so many of us.

Aileen Trombley Commerce Twp., MI trom4572@rust.net I love your site! I have just purchased a set of RedWing dinner ware at auction. I was interested in info and pricing. I have found it is the Concord Line, Magnolia. There are some pieces with crazing that I would like to replace. What a wonderful resource this site is. Now, as well as collecting McCoy and Roseville, I can join the ranks of a "Winger ". I started my pottery collecting several years ago coveting RedWing, buying McCoy as the Redwing was out of my price range. As a pottery junkie I had to have it...I am sure you understand. Many thanks. I will look into the info you have provided. Is there a 12 step program for pottery addicts?

Mary Eide Hopkins, Minnesota maryeide@email.msn.com What a great site !! I was referred to it by a person on the eBay pottery board (sometimes I think they get tired answering all the newbie questions! ... so I'll bug you guys for awhile!)And... my first question is: How do I identify a piece that is not numbered or named? I have a little pitcher that I bought as "Red Wing" and I have only 2 books. Can't find the piece in either. It's a little pink - speckled with black - pitcher that has a very lovely shape. I guess that's not much help, but I don't want to look through a gazillion pictures. Is there any publication on the market that lists items by description that is also fairly complete. There seems to be lots of Red Wing that is unmarked. Ahhhh, the challenge. Sorry for the long post. Regards, Mary

Hi, Just found your site...it is great. I have a major question....is there new "real" Red Wing Stoneware being made today. I recently bought a small crock & a small churn ..(brand new) that has the Red Wing signature design on the front. The clerk told me the Red Wing company had been out of business for a few years, but had recently reopened. Is this true or is the Red Wing name being misused??

I only discovered Red Wing pottery yesterday. I have had for many years six tall straight coffee mugs that my grandfather had (he died in 1962). They have a dark brown glaze on teh putside and a blue/green glaze on the inside. One day in an antique store I found a pitcher with lid that was an exact match, & that got me thinking there must be more available. Yesterday I found a set of 8 plates, cups & saucers, sugar & creamer, platter, vegetable bowl, servingbowl, and a fabulous large baking dish(?)or serving disd with a big domed lid. I paid $100 for all of this. The proprietor told me it was Red Wing pottery. It has no apparent markings on it. Judging from pictures from the Redbarn web site, I think it must be "Bake Ware". Is that a pattern name? I hope to learn more about this ware. I collect North Carolina pottery, we have a great folk pottery tradition here that goes way back. I look forward to hearing back from you if you have any information for me. I would love to acquire more pieces of this same glaze/pattern. Thanks.

I have a red wing crock that i'm trying to find out some info on. It is an 8 gal. crock with wire and wooden handles. It has a patented date of Dec. 21st 1915 on it with a large 8 and red wing emblem under that in the red orange color. Would be grateful for any information.

Jan Wilson Madison, WI JLWandMAK@aol.com

We just arrived from Milwaukee this evening where we are beginning to get my mother organized to move out of her house after 45 years...and in to an apartment. She's mentioned before that she knew there were some crocks hidden in one of our attics that she felt "the house must have been built around."

Tonight we crawled back into one of the furthest reaches of an upstairs attic. There in the back sat 3 crocks, all about the same size. My husband dragged one out with him so we could take a look. It was a Red Wing...Bailed line w/wood over wire handles. One has a 20 on it, one an 18 and we didn't yet see the third. They are stamped with a red wing and have the "Union" on it. Also "Patented December 21, 1915".

One crock was empty except for some Old, Old cookie cutters, some Old, Old beer bottle caps and Ball Jar lids (made with glass centers). Another (that still sits in the attic) looks to be full of old Ball canning jars. We'll get to those next time we visit.

Out of blind curiousity, I thought I'd look this up on the internet. Other than being wonderfully old and seemingly in perfect condition (to a non-antique person), what should we look for? Are these worth something? Jan in Madison

I've been ebaying for the past couple months adding to my collection and decided to run a search engine on "red wing". Here I am. This website was at the top of the search. I'm looking forward to browsing through your pages. I'm relatively new to collecting (in stoneware time). I've had the bug for 4 years and I've quickly accumulated a nice set of large wing script lettered crocks. More recently I've been working on my 2 gal. collection. I hope to find out how to become a member of the RWSC collectors asscociation. Thanks!

Mary J. Lombardo Birmingham, AL mary@osesurg.com I have five red wing items that I am interested in finding out some history on, four seem to be artware - one planter #1625 and three planter, conch type bowls #M-1610-5 1/2, , the last is a tea pot the same shape as the "smart set" but it has two blue chicks painted on it - where should I go to find out when these were made, etc.? THANKS -
