1 hour after the opening session ended the SIGS began!

I'm going to admit right up front that I can't remember the theme of all the SIGS but I'll try...  Let's see, there was one called "Red Wing And The Internet" and then some others. I'm just kidding, the rest were...

Group 1- 11:00 a.m. to 12:45

  • Animals & Figurines
  • Water Coolers/Salt Glaze & Zinc
  • Red Wing & The Internet

Group 2 - 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m.

  • Salt & Pepper Shakers/Teapots
  • Art Pottery Collecting by Color
  • Salt Glaze Jugs

I've got to admit that I was only in the Internet SIG and was only slightly paying attention to the Collecting by Color.  If anyone would like to contribute a brief summary of any of the SIGs I would really appreciate your time.

As you're all aware, Sandy Short and I were scheduled to moderate the Red Wing & The Internet SIG.  Turns out that Sandy never showed up so I had the floor (breaks my heart)!  There were 30-40 people in attendance ranging in age from 30 to 70, those over 40 in the majority. This was interesting as I would have thought we'd have attracted more of the younger people.  Another interesting statistic was that we had at least 4 members of the RWCS Board of Directors in the room along with the RWCS Newsletter Editor.  There were only 3 or 4  people in the room that had never been on the web, several that were on the web that hadn't been on the site at all, but the majority of people in the room were all very familiar faces and names... It was very funny... it seemed to be a trend around the entire Get Together that people would introduce themselves, look at each other with that "Don't I know you" face and then, only after verbally exchanging email addresses, totally recognize each other as good old friends!

Due to limited time I'm going to cut this short, but intend to FULLY expand on my 45 minutes of glory in the future.  I can summarize the meeting by saying there were none of those "Gee, what time is it" moments.  Everyone in the entire room participated in the discussion and, hopefully enjoyed our time together as much as I did!  The next SIG litterally had to kick us out of the room, several people stated that we could have gone on for another 2-3 hours!

I'll try to fill this in while traveling back to Houston on the plane.
