Dave Newkirk founded the RWCS Newsletter and owned all content for many years. There was a huge controversy in the late 1980s-early 1990s as the RWCS moved to take ownership of its newsletter. All newsletter content prior to this change is owned by Dave Newkirk, not by the RWCS, and reproduction of those articles would require permission from Dave Newkirk. Personally, I enjoy learning about the history of other potteries and found the Rookwood article interesting. But I can understand why some people would be turned off by such an article in the Red Wing Collectors Newsletter. It's not hard to fill the newsletter in the months around convention time, but I don't envy the editor's job during the off months. Perhaps the editors need more eyes and ears out there to help seek out Red Wing stories, people who could routinely make contributions. Sort of like columnists in the local newspaper. Maybe summaries of Red Wing-oriented auctions, recent eBay finds, etc?
