I was not present at the Quiet House at the time the events described in my first posting took place. I've only gotten one side of the story - from the Innkeeper. I do know, however, that when I checked in, I was told that the manager, who was sitting in the lobby at the time, was taking reservations now for next year. When I sat down with him to make my reservations for 2002, the first thing he told me was that he would be unable to guarantee that the rates would not be higher next year for a comparable room. I would expect them to be - not many businesses move from one year to the next w/o an increase in rates, service charges, etc... particularly hotels during any type of convention. It's called inflation! He did add that if he could honor this year's rate, he would do so.

The manager did not know me, so I cannot imagine that he would not have told other guests the same thing. When he told me he had been cursed at and verbally abused regarding his policies concerning reservations for next year and increased room rates, my thought was that that sort of altercation would certainly have spoiled a very nice time in Red Wing for any convention attendee involved!
