We stayed at the Quiet House starting in 1996 and thru the summer of 2000 convention. Four generations of about the most non rowdy group you could find. Each year we went down as we checked out to reserve the same suite again for the following summer.
In the summer of 2000 we checked in to find the room cleanliness and general appearance of the place to have taken a significant step in the wrong direction. We got out the cleanser and did it outselves.
As the convention was winding down we bumped into some familiar faces in the parking lot that had stayed at the place for several years as we had. They told us that they had not been allowed to make the reservations for the next year as they had for several years past. Since our four generations came from all points of the globe we rushed down to the desk and were told the same thing-Sorry we are already sold out. Seemed pretty amazing to us that all the rooms that several groups had reserved for years were suddenly unavailable, I sought out the manager and found out that he was new since the previous year. I explained to him our somewhat unique family situation and he just shrugged and said he couldn't help. Did not even offer to have a waiting list, was quite evident he did not want us around anymore.
Only one generation of the family made it this year. They got a $95 traffic ticket for going the wrong way on a one way street, the entrance they used was not marked but the very rude officer gave them a ticket anyway.
