I am relieved to hear people say that they would accept Wing Tips in a slightly different form.
We have thoroughly enjoyed our Wing Tips family and do not want to lose you! While I will admit that we spend a considerable amount of time and money on the site,I believe it has been worth it! And I am very thankful for our sponsors who help us keep it up financially and the volunteers, Kathleen, Gary, & Wally, who share their time to keep this site special!
Byron and I have talked about the road that lies ahead and some of the changes that Byron would like to make. I think that you will like where he wants to take this site! My explanation of his vision will doubtlessly oversimplify things(please remember, I'm not the computer person!)...
Presently, we are enjoying the first version of Wing Tips (Byron did a pretty good job for a rough draft, I must say!). However, certain elements of the site need to be streamlined to make them less labor intensive.
This "streamlining" may involve leaping to the next level of technology - We might get our own server, our own version of Oracle (a powerful database) and Byron would make the site more nimble at responding to your queries (examples of wonderfully useful database-driven sites are ebay.com and amazon.com).
The Wing Tips database would provide Byron with the technological challenge of taking this site up a level in providing service to you and would simplify his regular chores of keeping the site updated.
So, there is a glorious vision of an extremely functional RW site that retains its personal feel...(I will ask to keep my page, although as a surgery intern,I may not be able to post regularly!)
This "new" site would require a lot for Byron to get off the ground. In order for our family to make the big transition we will be making in June, the current site must be simplified regardless of when, or if, the new version of Wing Tips would come on line.
I ask for your understanding and support as this site may go through some growing pains! Lisabeth.
