Candidates for BOD positions are selected by a nominating committee, but nominations from the floor are accepted as well at the annual meeting. If the RWCS were to go to absentee voting, this would take away the real probability of success for anyone not selected by the nominating committee. While write in candidates would be possible, the likelyhood of any individual being able to reach a significant portion of the RWCS would be very small.
We need to be very careful not to impune the integrity of the BOD. These folks are volunteers and are doing their best to serve the RWCS. They are good people. The tone of the letter to Byron showed bad judgement, in my view. However, these things will happen from time to time, and unless this particular BOD fails to learn from this experience we need to continue to support them. We also need to let them know our individual positions on the issues.
