Wally, copyrighting intellectual property--like ballgames and Society-sponsored information and newletters--is an absolutely legitimate and necessary precaution, and I have no dispute with the board's decision insofar as it applies to intellectual property like this. I would categorize things like the scheduled seminars in this vein, since the RWCS has officially sponsored and endorsed the content. I am not so sure about things like the sale and auction, however, since by definition, these events are in the public domain. Presumably, both RWCS members as well as local townfolk from Rochester can come to the auction, right?
