A few years ago when I first joined the RWCS and was eager to find as much information about the Wares as I could, it seemed to me at the time, that having access to past issues of the newsletter would be of great educational value. I proposed to some of the Society board members in informal conversation that they sell bound reprints of past newsletter issues. Their response at the time was that this would devalue the copies of the newsletters members had collected over the years. Although I did not feel comfortable with the answer at the time, it took me a while to realize why.
The RWCS should be an educationl organization, not pandering to people who want to sell old newsletters.
It is now my feeling that this concept of making old newsletter information available should be extended one step further. I believe one of the best expenditures of members dues could be to create an internet site including information from old newsletters and a comprehensive index to that information. I doubt if there is anything else the Society could do that would make as much information available to as many people for the dollars spent.
The creation of the index and the conversion of the newsletters to internet versions would be a tremendous task. The technology is available, let's use it.
