Chartreuse Bob White Sample Plate
This Bob White sample plate is just like the good old Bob White we all
know and love except for a couple interesting divergences; the background color is
chartreuse and there are many more brown speckles on the plate. The back of the plate has
the number "585" in grease pencil under the glaze.
Do you know of any other Bob White sample plates? Please let me know at ByronBush@RedWingNet.com .

Employment Test Plate?
If you look closely at this plate you'll see that it's the green part of
an Orleans plate, from the Provincial line.
The owner of this plate thinks it may be an Red Wing employment test since this plate
appears to have initials of the painter on the back and is totally glazed. What do you
think?

Thursday Night Plates?
At one time the Red Wing Potteries sponsored a Thursday Night get
together where they allowed participants to decorate dinner plate blanks with their own
pattern. We think these Bob White - Like plates come from that event.

Shadowed Sample Plates
These plates differ little from their production version except that
there is a light gray shadow around the outside of the plate.
The expanded view of these plates shows the original signature of
Charles Murphy on the back of the Morning Glory Pink plate.

Dynasty Line Sample Plates
The first time I saw this Plum Blossom Blue sample plate I was shocked!
The amazingly blue glaze on this plate is uncharacteristically bright for a Red Wing
dinner plate
It's unclear whether the Speckled pink Dynasty plate is a sample,
Thursday Night piece, or something that showed up after the potteries closed. It is,
obviously, a Dynasty blank though!

Capistrano on Concord Sample
Does something look wrong here? It should because this is a Capistrano
pattern (from the Anniversary line)
on a Concord plate. I personally know of 2 of these samples but there's got to be more.

Normandy on Concord
This plate seems to be a present from one of the Red Wing dinnerware
painters, Bernice to her mother. It's not at all clear if this plate was snuck (my editor
says this should be "Sneaked" but I like "Snuck" better) through the
line or was a Thursday Night piece. The Normandy pattern is, in my opinion, one of the
nicest patterns Red Wing produced and is from the Provincial
line. Click the image for an expanded view of the front and back of the plate,
including a date and signature.

Cermamastone Samples
Each one of these samples was designed on the Ceramastone dinner plate blank but you'll
not see these color combinations on a production ceramastone plate. Each sample is
completely glazed on the front but typically has a penciled in marking on the back (under
the glaze) that some how uniquely identifies the sample.

grouped the expanded views of these plates into 4 or more plates so please be patient
while you wait for the images to download.
