Hairline Crack

Definition
A "Hairline Crack" is nearly invisible, very tight breakage in an item that may, or may not, extend through the body of the piece.  

Hairline cracks are differentiated from a "Crack" in that they they MAY NOT be found by rubbing a finger nail across the surface of the crack.

Assessment
Immerse in warm water (looking for a shadow), use of a magnifying glass, thumping with your finger (listen for a dull sound as apposed to a clear "Ring", use your finger nail.
