"Born Of Clay"
Thoughts of Collecting Red Wing

The beauty of Red Wing is that there are so many different pieces available. It doesn't matter whether you are a collector of Dinnerware, Art Pottery, Salt Glaze, Stoneware, miniatures, commemoratives, etc., etc. It is the very nature of the pottery that appeals to all of us. We love the smooth, silky feel of a well done piece of Red Wing. The "ring" a piece makes when it is true, perfect! We love spying in the darkest, remote corner of an antique shop just a glimpse of an "Oval" that looks all too familar--and the faint, smug smile when the price is right! Everyone who reads this wonderful site knows exactly what I am talking about--you have been there, you have felt "it." What matters is meeting someone at convention who you find lives less than three miles from your home. You would not have met them if it were not for Red Wing. What matters is the look on someone's face when they find the piece they have been searching for, and gently cradleing it in their arms. What matters is the love we all have for these wonderful clay products, the joy we have in collecting them, and the fantastic people we meet on the way!
